Welcome
Welcome and thank you for taking the time to complete this short training overview about Safe Places. Safe Places are an opportunity to be part of something bigger. They make it easier for people to access help and you’ll contribute to a new local system of grass-roots support for people in distress.
In this training you’ll receive information about being a Safe Place, compassionate conversations and recognising and responding to people experiencing emotional distress.
The aim of this training is for you to build confidence and capability to engage with people experiencing emotional distress. Once you complete this training you will receive support resources, partnering opportunities and related material to assist your journey as a Safe Place.
About this module
The module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
It provides information about:
- Safe Places and the Safe Space Network
- Compassionate conversations through the lived experience lens
- How to 'hold space' and what to say to a person experiencing distress
- Wellbeing
- Signs someone might be struggling
- Safety planning
- Support materials
- Local and online support options away from hospital emergency departments
- Emergency situations
Completing the module
